
ARTICULATION AGREEMENTS
4C Child Care Unlimited is pleased to partner
with Mott Community College and Baker College to provide early
childhood education and care students the opportunity to earn
college credit for having participated in the Michigan Child Care
Futures Training programs offered through our agency.


ARTICULATION: AN INTRODUCTION
This Articulation Guidebook was designed to familiarize you
with Baker College and its articulation guidelines and procedures.
Articulation is a process whereby students earn college credits
for skills and/or knowledge mastered while in high school or
as part of work-related training programs. We at Baker College
invite you to play an active role in offering articulation credit
to your students.
BAKER COLLEGE MISSION AND PURPOSES
The mission of Baker College
system is to provide quality higher education and training
which enables graduates to be successful
throughout challenging and rewarding careers.
To this end, the following purposes have been established:
- To prepare the students for competency in business, health,
human service, and technical careers in today’s global
economy
- To provide general education which expands the student’s
horizons, develops strong communication skills, and encourages
critical thinking
- To provide students with practical experience
and training in a chosen field of study
- To encourage social
and classroom-related activities which promote both personal
and professional growth
- To enhance students’ success through
continuous assessment and improvement of teaching, learning
and institutional effectiveness
- To offer graduate programs
which provide students with advanced study, research, scholarly
activity, and the opportunity for
professional development
- To assist graduates throughout their
careers in securing employment and improving career opportunities
- To
encourage graduates to continue their education and to lead
effectively through service in a world without boundaries
ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT
FOR ARTICULATION:MICHIGAN COMMUNITY COORDINATED CHILD CARE
(4C) ASSOCIATION AND BAKER COLLEGE
- Baker College will accept articulation credit for Michigan
4C Association training that meets designated early childhood
education course outcomes. The following training is eligible:

- The student seeking articulation credit under this agreement
must enroll in one of Baker College’s certificate or
associate’s degree programs in early childhood education.
- Credit articulated under this agreement will not be accepted
for Baker College’s teacher preparation bachelor’s
degree programs or for an Early Childhood (ZA) endorsement
from the State of Michigan.
- Articulation credit is granted
on a course-by-course basis.
- Michigan 4C Association training
must have been completed within the past five years in order
to be considered for
articulation credit at Baker College.
- Articulation credit
will be included in the total number of credits required
for program completion. It will appear
on the Baker College transcript by course title and credit
hour.
- The student seeking articulation credit must meet the
pre-requisites and academic requirements of his/her
intended program of study at Baker College.
- Tuition is waived
for articulation credit, and no additional credit hours will
be added to the student’s
program. At times, students may be granted articulation
credit for
courses not in their program. In such cases, credit
earned will appear on the student’s Baker College
transcript, but will not substitute for a required
course on his/her
program.
- College credit for articulated courses will be limited
to 12 quarter credit hours toward a certificate,
24 credit hours toward an associate’s degree program
and 48 credit hours toward a bachelor’s degree program.
This credit is in compliance with the Baker College Transfer
Credit Policy.
- This articulation agreement is binding for two
years at which time it is eligible for renewal. Review
of the agreement and articulation process will take place
annually
and as needed throughout the term of the agreement.
- The
parties agree to adhere to these articles of agreement for
articulation.
ARTICULATION PROCEDURE:
MICHIGAN COMMUNITY COORDINATED CHILD CARE (4C) ASSOCIATION
AND BAKER COLLEGE
This procedure should be followed to process articulation credit
at any Baker College campus.
- The student must apply for admission to Baker College
by sumitting the following to the campus admissions office:
a. A Baker College application for admission
b. The application fee
c. An official copy of high school transcript

To recommend
articulation credit for which the student is eligible,
the Michigan 4C Association director/designee
must complete Part A of an Articulation Request Form
(Appendix A) and submit the form and all supporting documentation
(including
a copy of the CDA credential) to the Baker College campus
admissions office.

A Baker College dean/designee must verify
that the training listed on the Articulation Request
Form is eligible for
articulation credit, complete Part B of the form and
notify the student
of accepted articulation credit.

A Baker College registrar
must post articulated credit as “pending” until
the student successfully completes one quarter or any
sequential courses (sequential
courses
must be completed within one year after the student
enrolls at Baker College). Baker College reserves the
right to
deny credit if the student does not achieve a GPA of
2.0 or higher
during his/her first quarter on campus.

The Baker College
registrar must complete Part C of the Articulation
Request Form. Both the registrar and the
student must sign and date the Articulation Request Form
prior to
registration. Copies of the form are distributed
to the student, the student’s file, the dean and the Michigan
4C Association.

The purpose of this agreement is to provide a process which will
enable Mott Community College Associate of Applied Science in
Early Childhood Education to interface college credit to students
who have completed the 4C Child Care Unlimited
training courses.
ARTICLE I. GRANTING CREDIT
- Mott Community College agrees to grant appropriate college
credit consistent with current policies.
- All students articulating to MCC must meet and maintain all
entrance academic standards including prerequisites of the intended
program of study.
- Mott Community College shall not charge a fee for articulated
credits
- All applicants wanting to articulate credit must have successfully
completed the 4C Child Care Unlimited training
courses and demonstrate this completion with a certificate of
completion.
- The articulated credit will appear on student’s transcript
upon completion of ECED 100 and three additional credits in
Early Childhood Education (ECED), Special Needs (ECES) or Nanny
(ECEN) courses at Mott Community College.
- Recognition for credit granted will appear on the student’s
academic record as articulated MCC credit. Articulated credit
will carry the grade “S” and will not be included
in the GPA calculation. Articulated credit will be posted on
the student’s academic record after the completion of
6 credit hours.
- Articulated credit will be granted to only those students
completing 4C Child Care Unlimited Courses within the last
three (3) years.
- Articulated credits any/all of the following courses will
appear on the student's MCC transcript when the above conditions
are met. Up to twelve (12) credits are possible under
this agreement.
ARTICLE II. TERM OF AGREEMENT
This agreement will take effect upon its signing by 4C
Child Care Unlimited and MCC. This agreement will be ongoing and
thirty (30) days notice must be given prior to semester if any
party intends to withdraw.
ARTICLE III. PROVISIONS FOR CHANGE
Each academic year, a review of the Articulation Agreement and
its
process will be conducted by the respective parties.
